Homemades FAQs

How Much Fresh Food Should I Feed My Dog?

How much fresh food you should feed your dog will depend on their age, weight, breed, activity level, environment, and individual requirements. You’ll also have to consider whether you’re going to use fresh food as a topper or a main meal for your dog. We generally recommend that you should feed your dog between 1¼ and 1¾ of a pouch per 10lbs of body weight as a main meal. If you’re using it as a topper instead, you should reduce the amount of dry food your dog has between a ⅓ and ½ cup for every pouch of fresh dog food used.

If you’re unsure about how much fresh food you should be feeding your dog, you can look at the feeding guides that are included on our packs of fresh dog food for general guidelines. If you want additional advice that is personalized to your dog’s needs or you’re still not sure how much you should be feeding them, we recommend speaking to your veterinarian.

Why Are Homemades Better Than Homemade Dog Food?

While homemade dog food lets you have complete control over your dog’s diet, it can often be unbalanced and lack the essential nutrients your dog needs. Our homemades provide your dog with a balanced meal made from nutritious ingredients as well as the added minerals and vitamins they need to thrive. They’re made from real high-quality ingredients, taste the same as homemade dog food (if not better!), and will save you tons of time when it comes to preparing and serving your dog’s meals. Are you ready to take your dog’s dinner to the next level?

How Can I Add Homemades To My Dog’s Diet?

Our homemade fresh food for dogs can be incorporated into your dog’s diet in a way that suits their individual nutritional needs. You can use it as a flavorful addition to your dog’s current diet, or you can serve it up as a nutrition-packed main meal. If you’re introducing your dog to our homemades for the first time, we recommend introducing it into their diet slowly over a period of 2 weeks.

If switching to homemades as a main meal, simply start to reduce the amount of dry food your dog consumes and increase the amount of fresh dog food until the switchover is complete. If you’re using it as a topper instead, you can use the same process but reduce smaller amounts of dry food until you have achieved the ratio of fresh to dry food you desire.

How Should I Store Homemades?

Storing our homemades is as simple as they are delicious. They should be stored in a cool, dry place and served to your dog at room temperature. If you have an opened pouch that needs to be stored, you should put it in the fridge straight away to maintain its freshness and serve it to your dog for their next meal. Just remember to get it out of the fridge slightly before your dog’s dinnertime so it has time to warm up to room temperature.
